Overlooking the horizon from Villa Le Cannicelle it seems you could literally fly over the sea. As you enter the front gate you are utterly rewarded with magnificent views of the Italian coastline. During the clearest sunny days the blustery island of Stromboli also peeks out on the horizon, and from this natural terrace there is nearly half of Italy opening to your eyes.
Villa Le cannicelle is a modern three-storey villa built in a traditional style, set 164 feet above sea level with stunning views stretching for miles along the Cilento Coast, in an harmony of stone arches that frame glimpses of century-old olive trees and sea views.
Perched on the highest point of Villammare, almost directly above the beach, it is elegantly furnished in a contemporary style and each level is self-contained making it ideal for larger groups. Outside there is ample space for everyone to come together and enjoy the stunning sea views from one of the many terraces of the villa, lounge in the shade of a huge Mediterranean oak tree, soak up the sun around the pool, or enjoy a meal on the rustic “taverna” dining terrace.
The entire accommodation has light, bright and airy atmospheres and is furnished in original and elegant taste. It is the ideal solution for a family and friend holidays at the beach in Italy. It gives opportunities to share holiday time with your loved ones as well as keeping your own privacy when needed.
Moreover the villa is directly managed by the owners with great care and it is positioned on a dominant panoramic hillside facing the sea, just 600 meters from Villammare beach. It commands a spectacular Mediterranean vista – views stretching down to the farthest mountains of the Calabria region (the mountain range that soars above Diamante and Paola) on one side and as far as Punta Infreschi and the wild coastal stretch bearing the same name between Scario and Marina di Camerota on the other side. Two thirds of the estate is covered with lush woodland and cork oak, a plant typical of the environmental niche stretching along the coastline of the Bay of Policastro between S. Marina and Sapri. Surrounded by a big enclosed garden, it is the perfect accommodation for families with children.
The villa is extremely spacious and well equipped with many terraces where to relax, sipping a glass of wine, and soak in the views before dining together on the wonderful covered “taverna” with its traditional Italian style wood-fired pizza oven and barbecue. A little piece of paradise for families and friends wishing to escape their busy city lives and experiencing the authentic Italian “dolce vita” and a truly memorable villa holiday at the beach.
Villammare is the perfect seaside resort for families in search of friendly and charming spots off the beaten track. Breathtaking views from the hills covered with centuries-old cork oaks, treks in the mountains, cruises along the Cilento Coast, mouth-watering regional cuisine, and the special friendliness of the locals will draw you back to this region year after year. The village is lively at summer and there are bars, chalets, and shops. It is not a place spoiled by massive tourism and you will find a friendly athmosphere all around and an autentic glimpse of Italy. Restaurants in the surroundings as well as “trattorie” and “pizzerie” offer very good fish, seafood and delicious local cuisine. The “marina” of Villammare is less than 1 mile therefore you could go there walking from the villa but car is recommended because the last part of the road to the accommodation is steep (that’s the reason why the villa has such enjoyable views!).
Moreover the Villa sits in the “National Park of Cilento” (UNESCO world heritage site) therefore you could have lots of excursions in evocative natural and historical place, whether to the mountains or to the sea.
Private skippered boat can be arranged on request for tours to Sapri, Palinuro, Porto Infreschi, Acquafredda, Scario or Maratea beaches where you can watch the sunset or visit some of the many natural sea caves with their mesmerizing, colorful reflections. These are holiday memories to treasure for a lifetime.

“Once again a great stay at Le Cannicelle. Enjoyable BBQ at the villa’s outdoor kitchen, great food also in nearby restaurants. And the atmosphere in village Villammare is always relaxed and friendly, not spoiled by too many tourists.”
“We found what we were looking for and we had a wonderful family holiday. We will definitely come back next year with some more friends. The people in the surrounding villages are incredibly friendly even though they may not speak much English. The food and wine is amazing PS: We miss our “martini” under the shining stars of the italian sky and obviously…the pooooool!”
“Fantastische vakantie gehad op een waanzinnige lokatie. Wij komen zeker terug, wat een paradijs!!!”
“El emplazamiento es idílico, con vistas inmejorables sobre la Bahía de Sapri. Estupenda base de partida para exlorar el sur de la Campania. La casa es muy agradable, bien ventilada , muy limpia y perfectamente equipada, con una piscina grande y con todo tipo de comodidades. Muy recomendable para pasar unas vacaciones en familia.”
“To say that Villa Le Cannicelle is the perfect home for a family vacation would be an understatement. Everything about the villa exceeded our expectations. There is enough space (both indoors and outside) for people to relax, explore, and have fun. The HUGE pool (with lots of pool toys), plum trees, swings, and outdoor gathering spaces were a highlight. The house was safe, perfect for all ages, and spacious enough for naps, pool play, and outdoor relaxing to happen at the same time. A lifetime Cilento coast vacation that our families will never forget.”
“An amazing week in an incredibly beautiful villa with stunning views! We spent a week at Villa Le Cannicelle in August for a family reunion – one that we will remember forever! The villa is a gorgeous 3 floor structure and we rented the entire villa. The villa is luxurious and comes with a housekeeper. This is a huge help as it kept the villa clean and many chores done allowing us to spend more time with our families. From my earliest interactions with the owner I just felt incredibly comfortable in speaking to him. He went out of his way to ensure that his guests have an amazing time and he is always accessible. He went above and beyond to make the house comfortable and accessible for each of our family members. The villa has the most stunning views from all floors looking our towards the hills further south and out into the beautiful sea. The pool is incredible well kept. Upon our return I asked one of our 9 year old twins what his favourite part was and he responded “everything”. Yes, we all agree. Thanks for an unforgettable reunion.”
“This was an incredible place to vacation for my family! If you want to escape to the real Italy, away from the tourists but experience the best of the Italian coast – this is a gem! The pictures do no justice to this place. The villa is full of all the luxuries we needed. The bedrooms were all very large with good design and great amenities. The bathrooms were well stocked and extremely clean – as was the whole houses immaculate. The kitchen was great and a fun place to prepare food. The outdoor kitchen was also a real treasure at night for long dinners with our large group. We will be back to stay again – it was heaven”.
“A fantastic location with sea views and private surrounds. Marzio our host made sure all our needs were fully met. Gardens pretty with apricot orchards set against blue sea vistas. The pool was hard to clamber out of. Perfect temperature (June) Equally the nearby sea was so clean and clear and delicious to swim in. Heavenly. Diversity of activities in this area. Cilento national park has stunning mountain scenery tumbling down to the sea. Hiking to waterfalls. Boat trips. One of the best family holidays we have ever had!”.
“We could not have spent a better time at Villa Cannicelle. The warm reception, absolutely stunning views and peaceful surroundings will hopefully have us going back time and time again. The house is immaculate and very well equipped with beautiful views from every room. The swimming pool is the perfect size and with 2 families with 5 small children the perfect sized garden was a huge bonus. Thanks to le Cannicelle”s great list of places to visit we very much enjoyed all the surrounding areas with fine Italian views and great uncrowded beaches. Thank you for a superb holiday.”
“Le Cannicelle was a perfect choice for us. Several friends from Rome and I shared the entire house for two weeks and we couldn’t have been happier. The house is lovely, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The photos don’t do the decor of the first floor justice. It’s even more elegant than the pictures. And the kitchen is a dream. The location is breathtaking, the garden stunning, the pool is perfect, etc. Marzio’s care and love for the property is in evidence everywhere. And the housekeeper, Anna, is an absolute marvel. We also fell in love the the Basso Cilento. Villammare is tiny but has two wonderful restaurants. We rented a boat a couple of times to explore Punta degli Infreschi and Cala Bianca and both days were unforgettable. We love the house and can’t wait to go back”.
“Villammare is off the beaten track for all but the Italians, who seem to flock there from the urban sprawl of the Southern Cities. The area is nevertheless very friendly to those from outside Italy, since the locals are pleased not to say delighted by their arrival of strangers. Certainly this was our experience. The Villa, too, is lovely, with a wonderful deep pool for diving and larking about in. The house is large and well kept, with a wonderfully large main room in the largest of the apartments. The villa’s location too makes for superb views of the bay, and is distant from the commotion of the beach below”.
